Golden Lights

Here’s one last New Year’s DIY to ring in 2014! Add a fun twist to the classic gold and silver theme of the holiday with this quick, easy, and pretty DIY project. Whether you’re hosting a party or having a quiet night in, a little candlelight is perfect for setting a festive mood. With golden votives, you can take your decor up a notch for a setting worthy of welcoming a brand new year!

All you’ll need are glass votives and a gold paint pen. Really, that’s it! If you want, you can also try silver… or use both colors. Take a glass votive and draw on designs with your paint pen. Try stripes, polka dots, triangles… anything that appeals to you. Or just give a pen to the kids and let them make their own metallic creations.

Once it’s dry (which shouldn’t take long), pop in a candle and enjoy the soft golden glow. This simple project adds festivity and glamour to your décor in only a few minutes! Plus, no mess or cleanup before guests arrive. Set these out for mood lighting on New Year’s Eve or add some pretty light for New Year’s Day brunch. And after that? They can add a little gilded flair to your table all year round.

Happy New Year, everyone! Thanks for your continued support and may 2014 be inspiring, creative, and of course scribbly!
